Winter road trip

A couple weeks ago, The Mister took me up north for a winter break to take photos. It was very cold but the sun was shining and beautiful...

 I love finding old barns...

old forgotten houses and farm machinery...

streams...

 and fences too!

Lavender Shop and Gardens

Last fall, the Mister and I, took a trip to Virginia. Before spending a few days at the beach, we visited some interesting small towns. One was Harrisonburg, Virginia. It's the home of the White Oak Lavender Shop and Gardens... field after field of wonderfully scented lavender and beautiful color.

They have a gift shop, winery, and interactive gardens.

They sell EVERYTHING lavender.... beautiful lavender - themed gifts...

lavender wine, lavender ice cream!
  fresh lavender bouquets!

I really enjoyed my afternoon there and if you're in the area, stop by... you won't be disappointed!

Cooper's Rock

These photos were taken at Cooper's Rock State Park in West Virginia. Such a beautiful state any time of year, but especially in the fall.

I'm a slow learner...

At our last house, we had a wooded area behind our yard.
The deer from the nearby county park would use it as a cut through and munch on my flower beds. We had birds galore there ...
and plenty of squirrels to keep us amused

Even an occasional groundhog would chomp on fallen apples.
And I always said that if we moved I would not live near the woods. Well....last spring we did move and what does the view look like out of my dining room windows??
A paradise for squirrels, birds and yes, deer.
I do enjoy watching the woodpecker and her babies and I'll just hope the deer stay out of the flower beds!! Keeping my fingers crossed.

I Believe.....

Recently, we were having breakfast in a local restaurant and this quote was painted on the wall. The second shot is easier to read.

All good stuff!!
