I had a drug problem when I was young.

I was drug to church on Sunday morning.

I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.

I was drug to family reunions, no matter the weather.

I was drug to the bus stop to go to school every weekday.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults and teachers.

I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents.

Those drugs are still in my veins, and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin; and if today's children had this kind of drug problem, the world might be a better place....Amen

Perennials and watermelon....

Hubby, GS Alex, and I got an early start Sunday morning. After stopping at MacDonald's for some pancakes, we drove over to Trax's farm, a local plant and produce market in our area. They have plenty of fruits and vegetables (some of the best corn you've ever tasted) grown right there on the farm so you know it's fresh.
Outside, there are lots of annuals, perennials, my favorite, and areas where you can "pick your own berries".
This weekend they were having an outdoor flea market. Nothing noteworthy there, but I did get 5 perennials for the flower beds.

Inside the shelves are full of home accessories and garden ornaments.

We wanted to get home before it got too hot. The forecast was for 96 degrees.

After planting the perennials, I sat in the shade and enjoyed a LARGE slice of juicy watermelon and watched the canaries at the feeder.
Now what could be better than that?

A little taste of heaven...

In 1996, a retired gentleman in our neighborhood bought the empty lot across the street from his house and turned it into a "park." He's gathered all sorts of things that caught his eye at garage sales and flea markets.... and turned this lot that was once overgrown and not much to look at into a serene flower garden :)

In the center there's a sundial, in one corner a birdbath, and you can spot birdhouses everywhere you look!

It's easy to see that he has a love for flowers and that he gets so much pleasure out of the time he spends working here.

He told Hubby and I that he sells custom golf clubs in his spare time, and there are several items related to golf throughout the park.

Often neighbors walk along this street after dinner, and He welcomes them to " stop and sit for a spell and enjoy the scenery."

His wife's name is Sylvia and his name is Tony, so he named this little taste of heaven, "SYLTON'S GARDEN".

Good Mornin' Glory.......

Our house is situated on a sloped street which gives us a upper and lower entry. I really like it because the upper entry, with this patio, is at the end of the hall near our master bedroom.


The flower containers are filling out really well. Hubby added some sand to the soil when we planted these, it helps to keep the soil from getting hard since this patio has full sun.

This photo was taken the day that I transplanted the Morning glory seedlings outside.

This was taken this morning, about 6 weeks later, and they are coming along nicely. I've had 2 or 3 random blooms so far. Pretty soon they will really take off!

A Great Find...

First let me say that I 'm in no way connected to the company that makes this, but I just had to tell you about one of the best purchases I ever made! It's a little kitchen appliance called the "GT XPress 101 ".
I first saw this on an infomercial for $30.00 plus shipping. I was impressed with what I was seeing, but I asked myself "Does this thing really work???" Well soon after that we started selling them at Target, and again it caught my eye, but we were always sold out before I could get one. About a year later, I was in Linens and Things and I saw one on their reduced counter for $13.00! It was reduced because it was the display model ( never used) and didn't have the box...who cares about the box??...so I bought it.

There are so many things you can make with this gadget, from meats to desserts, but most of all, I like to use it to make my lunch with leftovers. It literally only takes a few tablespoons of this and that, wrapped in a flour tortilla and seal it with some cheese to make a wrap. You know, those leftovers that are not enough for a full serving but are just too tasty to throw away. It doesn't heat up the kitchen and it's portable. This is truly one of those small kitchen appliances that has earned valuable counter space!!!
