“If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place.”
—Nora Roberts (b. 1950), fiction author
I’M GRATEFUL!
I’m grateful God for loving Care,
I’m grateful too, for Something more,
I’m grateful God that I can bear,
The things I’m not grateful For!

"One of the hardest things in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which bridge to burn."

Have a good day!

Never make a negative decision in the low time.
Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods.
Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass.

Here's the truth....

This is Abraham Lincoln's quote:

"You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The Government cannot give to anybody anything that the Government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is surely the end of any nation's future."

~ Historic Roscoe Village ~

Our next stop was Roscoe Village, a restored canal town in Coshocton,Ohio
Roscoe Village prospered as a port on the Ohio and Erie Canal. Canal boats traveled through Roscoe carrying goods to Ohio settlers and transporting furs and food to northern and southern ports. What stands today as the Old Warehouse Restaurant (above ) was the center of commerce as goods were unloaded, stored or sold through the mill store.
There are shops from the past where you can see trades of the 1800’s, a one-room school house, museum, restaurants and beautifully landscaped gardens. At nearby Lake Park, you can take a forty-five minute ride down the canal in a boat pulled by draft horses.
They have festivals all year long like the Wine, Arts and Garden Festival in September and the Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival in October !
Cochocton, Ohio is located in East Central Ohio near Amish country.
After a stroll through town and lots of photos, we decided to have dinner at the " Warehouse ". When we were seated, the hostess ask if we would like to sit outside on the patio under the trees. It was a warm, summer evening with a nice breeze, so we agreed.  There was a band taking song requests  from the 60's, 70's and 80's. We really enjoyed the dinner and entertainment that night as everyone joined in singing the oldies!

The 23rd Psalm for Working People
(Author Unknown)
The Lord is my real boss and I shall not want.
He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.
He gently reminds me to pray before I speak,
And to do all things without murmuring and complaining.
He reminds me that He is my Source and not my job.
He restores my sanity everyday and guides my decisions
That I might honor Him in everything I do.
Even though I face absurd amounts of emails,
System crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget cutbacks,
gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors
And an aging body that doesn't cooperate every morning,
I will not stop-for He is with me!
His presence, His peace, and His power
Will see me through.
He raises me up,
Even when they fail to promote me.
He claims me as His own,
Even when the company threatens to let me go.
His faithfulness and love
Are better than any bonus check.
His retirement plan beats every 401K there is!
When it's all said and done,
I'll be working for Him a whole lot longer
And for that, I bless His Name

THE GLORY OF FRIENDSHIP
BY RALPH WALDO EMERSON
"THE GLORY OF FRIENDSHIP IS NOT THE OUTSTRETCHED HAND,
NOR THE KINDLY SMILE, NOR THE GLORY AND JOY OF COMPANIONSHIP;
IT IS THE SPIRITUAL INSPIRATION THAT COMES TO ONE
WHEN HE DISCOVERS THAT SOMEONE ELSE BELIEVES IN HIM
AND IS WILLING TO TRUST HIM"

" Nothing but heaven itself is better than a friend who is really a friend "

~ Clark Gable ~

As we were traveling down the highway, we saw a sign that stated " Exit here to visit the birthplace of Clark Gable ".
Now if your forty or younger, you may not have any idea who that is
unless you've seen " Gone with the Wind ".
Remember Rhett Butler ?
....I don't give a damn ?...does that ring a bell?

This is the house in Cadiz, Ohio where he was born. It's been made into a museum and gift shop.
The museum features may items that once belonged to Gable, including his boyhood sled and 1954 Cadillac.
Adjacent to the museum is the Clark Gable Bed and Breakfast. It features 3 bedrooms...
the " Gable and Lombard " suite, "
It happened one Night " Suite,
and the " Command Decision " Suite.
All decorated like the movie that they are titled for.
The sidewalk has bricks that have been engraved by friends, film stars, and family of Gable.
Clark Gable died in November 1960, the result of a heart attack. He was only 51.

~ Quilt Barns ~

" A Patchwork Path Through the Farmland. "
When we were in Ohio last summer…I found the four below:
COAL MINER'S BLOCK
The quilt barn phenomenon is sweeping across rural America. It started in Ohio. The concept began as a tribute by Donna Sue Groves to her mother as a painted quilt square on the family barn in 2001.

THE FOREST BLOCK
Groves never imagined her idea would lead to colorful quilt patterns with names such as friendship star, bowtie and brown goose appearing on over 900 barns in 16 states.

OHIO STAR BLOCK
Today Ohio, Iowa and Kentucky have over 250 in each state, and the project continues to spread. West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee also have joined in.
THE BOWTIE BLOCK
There are several reasons for the popularity of quilt square barns. Volunteers see them as an opportunity to contribute to the community in a fun, unique and visible way. Farmers see them as a way to get people into the countryside, share their love of the land, and honor someone in their own family.

To view some of these barns… just google….quilt barns in Ohio

There is, however, one barn quilt square that will never be seen by the public. This past summer Groves was very ill for several weeks. When she came home from the hospital, her mother had a surprise waiting. Groves' favorite quilt square had been painted on their barn where it cannot be seen from the road. "It is just for the two of us," Groves says.
