Houses for Wrent....

Pappy and Alex had made plans to build birdhouses last Saturday after the soccer game. Two of them, one for me and one for Alex's yard. On the way home, Alex informed Pappy that he had told his teacher that he would make her one too!
So they made a quick stop at the home center for more wood.
They did a great job!
So we added some paint and up they went...

Alex's teacher told him that she will be hanging the birdhouse in the school habitat for everyone to enjoy!
He was thrilled.
Were keeping our fingers-crossed in hopes that new tenants will move in soon!!

Exercise for people over 50...

(or who feel like it)

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks, Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each sack.

~ Signs of Spring ~

"Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world."
Virgil A. Kraft

The Laugh
A minister was making a wooden trellis to support a climbing vine. As he was pounding away, he noticed that a little boy was watching him. The youngster didn't say a word, so the preacher kept on working, thinking the lad would leave. But he didn't. Pleased at the thought that his work was being admired, the pastor finally said, "Well, son, trying to pick up some pointers on gardening?" "No," he replied. "I'm just waiting to hear what a preacher says when he hits his thumb with a hammer."

~ Living Statue of Liberty ~

I received an interesting e-mail a few days ago...and when you realize how this photo is made, it's mind boggling:

WWI Camp Dodge - Living Statue of Liberty
"On a stifling July day in 1918, 18,000 officers and soldiers posed as Lady Liberty on the parade grounds at Camp Dodge. According to a July 3, 1986, story in the Fort Dodge Messenger, many men fainted-they were dressed in woolen uniforms-as the temperature neared 105 degrees. The photo, taken from the top of a specially constructed tower by a Chicago photography studio, Mole & Thomas. The photo was intended to help promote the sale of war bonds but was never used." (Grover 1987) There are twice as many men in the flame of the torch as in the rest of the design.

Suzy's Bruschetta Chicken

Here's one of those recipes that you come up with when you have to think of "something different to do with chicken"....

~Suzy's Bruschetta Chicken~
Boneless chicken tenderloins
( browned and cooked thoroughly in a little olive oil.)
¼ cup onion, finely chopped
2 Tablespoons butter
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
2 cups of chicken broth
4 or 5 cups of leftover cooked spaghetti
½ jar of sun-dried tomato bruschetta
½ cup crumbly feta cheese
Brown chicken in large non-stick skillet. Chop into bite-size pieces. Add chopped onion and broth. Simmer covered on low for 10 minutes, then add butter. When the butter has melted, add cooked spaghetti.
Top the spaghetti with spoonfuls of the bruschetta. Let everything heat through and then top with feta cheese.
Just before serving, toss everything together with tongs and serve.
This has turned out to be one of our favorites!

~ Over the teacup ~

Remember the tea kettle - it is always up to its neck in hot water, yet it still sings!- Unknown

When the world moves too fast,
and you are too busy to even think,
take time out from work and worry
and brew up an enchanting little drink.

Your pace seems to slow down,
notice the beauty of the day.
Feel your spirits lifting,
as your cares just slip away.

There is a magic in it's fragrance,
you'll find contentment as you'll see,
when you take the time to savor
a marvelous cup of tea.

We had a kettle, we let it leak,

Our not replacing it made it worse,

We have'nt had any tea for a week...

The bottom is out of the Universe!-

Rudyard Kipling

" May you always have walls for the winds,

a roof for the rain,

tea beside the fire,

laughter to cheer you,

those you love near you,

and all your heart might desire.”

April 1st....

This is the day for those who live... just to pull pranks on unsuspecting others! Unfortunately, I fall under the category of the unsuspecting.

About a year ago, I made a humorous comment in a work meeting about my personal life (the comment was not true, by the way) but...my co-workers picked up on it and ran with it...and boy, have they ever!!

Thank goodness that I'm easy -going and like to laugh and have fun!

I'm also glad that this is my day off because I can only imagine what they might have planned for me.
I guess the joke is on them!!
Here's a great site where you can read some of the greatest hoaxes of all times.
And have a fun day!!
