What R U Reading?

A blogger friend of mine, Camera totin’ idiot, picked me to join in on a different kind of meme!
It’s called “What RU Reading?”

Here's the Rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.

I'm reading "Chicken Soup for the Golden Soul"
Chapter Title~It's Never Too Late
" I realized I could sit at home and cry over my loss, or I could do something I had wanted to do all my life. I could go to college. It was the scariest decision I've ever made".
I’ve picked:
Home on the Range
Cherish the word
In my backyard
There is no place like home
I love you all day long

Reflections on Marriage for the Bride and Groom

Let love be your shelter,
the world is noisy
and confusing at times,
so make a home
that is a haven,
A peaceful place where you can
listen to your hearts and savor
The comfortable closeness you share.

No matter how busy,
Your days may be,
Make time for yourselves.
Hold hands.
Unwind.
Surprise each other.
Find little chances every day,
to show you’re grateful to be partners,
to be friends, to be married.

Life is not perfect,
You will make mistakes,
But each time you meet life’s challenges together,
You will grow wiser, stronger,
And more sure of your love.

Cherish your yesterdays.
They are irreplaceable souvenirs
of your journey through life.
Make memories
That will bring smiles and sighs
Whenever you look back….
And look back often.

Look forward, too.
Dream together. Plan together.
Make promises to keep.
Believe in your tomorrows.
Because tomorrows
are what forever is made of.

To make love last
Put each other first.
This is the way to make a beautiful life together,
The kind of life you both deserve so much.

~ Congratulations ~

~ Newlyweds ~

This past Friday, our daughter Sarah and her fiancé Frank were married!!
They have been together for 3 years and have been very busy with jobs and school. Sarah is a single mother of our grandson Alex, and she recently graduated from college with a degree in Radiation Therapy. Frank has worked with the mentally- challenged for six years and two years ago, went back to school to get a teaching degree. He wants to teach them...up until now he's always been a care-taker.

This is a second marriage for Sarah, first for Frank. So they decided to have a small ceremony at the Justice of the peace. There were about 12 of us in all. Alex was the best man and in charge of Mom's ring.

After the ceremony, we all went to a local restaurant for dinner and the food and service was great! They were so happy to have us there and offered a small room off by ourselves.

I think the cake is just beautiful!!

We had heart-shaped cookies as favors since it was Valentine's week!!
Later the happy couple left to spend 3 days at a local ski resort in the mountains.

We are so pleased to have Frank in our family. He's a great guy with a big heart.
And we wish them both the best of everything!

How was your Valentine's day?

Jack brought me flowers and a beautiful card Wednesday evening. He took me to our favorite Chinese restaurant for lunch Thursday. I had a dentist appointment in the morning because I've been having some trouble with my jaw hurting for a week or so.
Well I found out that I need not one... but 2 root canals!!!

Lucky me!!! The dentist gave my an antibiotic to take, that lists several side effects. And the last two days I've had every one of them.
I'll have some happier news about my week tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoyed your day!

~Happy Valentine's Day~

~ Calling Long Distance ~
I read about a man who called his wife from an airport pay phone. When he had used up all his coins, the operator interrupted to say he had one minute left. The man hurriedly tried to finish his conversation with his wife, but before they could tell each other good-bye, the line went dead.
With a sigh, the man hung up the phone and started to leave the little phone cubicle. Just then the phone rang. Thinking it was the operator wanting more money, the man almost didn't answer. But something told him to pick up the phone. And sure enough, it was the operator. But she didn't want more money. Instead she had a message for him.
"After you hung up, your wife said she loved you" the operator said. "And I thought you'd want to know". To love and be loved is like being warmed by the sun from both sides.
Love is the slowest and quickest quality~
Slowest to doubt ~quickest to believe.
Slowest to critize~quickest to approve.
Slowest to irritate~quickest to smile.
Slowest to accuse~quickest to excuse.

Finally...

it's February 12, and were getting enough snow to be considered a "snowstorm". Up until now we've only had a dusting here and there. Jack was two hours getting to work today.
Did you notice...Hubby now has a name!

My friend from work called and said that there were a lot of call-offs and that no one is really shopping so this will be a stress free, easy day!
And as luck would have it, IT'S MY DAY OFF!

Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow...

~Words for life's journey ~

Here's something to smile about...

Driver's license

A young boy had just gotten his driver's license and inquired of his father, if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son. 'You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut; and we'll talk about the car.' The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer and they agreed on it.

After about six weeks his father said, 'Son, I've been real proud. You brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm real disappointed you haven't gotten your hair cut.'

The young man paused a moment then said, 'You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair and there's even a strong argument that Jesus had long hair.'

To this his father replied, "Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?"

~ Show and Tell Friday ~

I started collecting teacups several years ago, then added teapots and now I'm on to plates!
Here are a few of my favorites:

The blue one was my Grandmother's and the white one with the heart cut-outs is fairly new.
The strawberry saucer and cherry bowl are very old.

The three below were very inexpensive. I collect what catches my eye and not for it's value!
