Just in case you were wondering...

Do you know pumpkins are a fruit?
***
The largest pumpkin ever grown was 1,689 pounds.
***
The top pumpkin production states are
Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and California.
***
In early colonial times, pumpkins were used as an
ingredient for the crust of pies, not the filling.
***
Using pumpkins as lanterns at Halloween is based on an ancient
Celtic custom brought to America by Irish immigrants.

  1. How interesting! That was one big pumpkin. I don't believe we have any around here this year that could compete. We kept hearing that the pumpkins were relatively small due to the drought. I think tonight there is supposed to be " a little frost on the pumpkin." Brrrrr Winter's on its way!
